not quite as hoped
Well, my six month checkup didn't go quite as we hoped. There has been a bit of an issue with my weight that Mom hasn't blogged about for not wanting to sound alarmist about a non issue. So here's the story. I was born at 8lbs, 4 oz, which is the 75th percentile. I've grown a little slower every month. At three months I was in 20th, and now at six months I am now in the 5th percentile. If I continued on this way next month I would probably be off the charts (For those in the know: Yes, the WHO charts). We've been to visit a lactation consultant who verified that I can nurse and do adequately transfer milk, and that Mom is producing well. We've tried nursing more, changing when we switch sides to make sure I get enough hindmilk, increasing the amount of fat Mom takes in (the ice cream diet!) and she stopped trying to workout. None of that really made any difference at all. In the last month I gained 280 grams ~ about 9 grams a day when I should have been gaining 15-20. My height and head circumference had been fine but now those are starting to decline percentage wise as well. So as unfun as it was for me Mom and Dad and Dr. Sevilla decided it was time to look into what is going on a bit more. Today I had blood drawn, and as soon as I poop a sample of that will be taken in as well! They are going to make sure I am properly metabolizing my milk and check to see that my liver and kidneys are doing wheat they should. Dr. Sevilla was sure to point out that if there is anything wrong (and there may not be) it is sort of a mystery because I have no symptoms of anything being wrong. I'm happy, have every appearance of good health and am spot on developmentally.

I'm Six Months!
I am officially 1/2 a year old! I have become Momma's little man on the move over these last few weeks - never staying where I'm set. I wiggle, scoot, army crawl my way over to any sort of trouble I can get into. Under Kelsea's table, pulling books or boxes down from the shelf onto my head, turning off the computer by pressing that pretty light, attempting to chew on electrical cords, chasing Emma and Jacob so that I may talk to and chew on them, sticking ANY thing found in arm's reach into my mouth - these are my joys!

Oh Daddy
Well, Daddy thought it might be time to introduce solid foods. He thought that whole brown rice was a good start. This was a one time occurrence, after which Daddy agreed that Luke was not quite ready for solids!
